License Renewal Information

Pre-renewal notices will be released mid-June 2026. 

Name changes can be processed through your license renewal, please be patient as these applications must be manually reviewed prior to their release. 

Agency staff are available 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday EST. Due to the high volume​ of calls, email is best kbc@ky.gov​​​​ if you have technical questions and or receiving an error please send us a screenshot a short video to better assist you.  

If you need assistance and prefer to visit the office, bring your ID, electronic device, form of payment in debit or credit card. Your device must come equipped with internet. Please pardon our mess, our agency has an anticipated move date on August 18th 2025 . We will update all license holders upon confirmation and relocation via email through a newsletter. 

July 1, 2023 KBC no longer accepts physical payments. All fees and fines are available to be paid via credit or debit card through the online application system. ​

If you experience an error in red that states "An account could not be found for the provided user ID" Click cancel in the upper left hand corner and choose the option Don’t have an account? Sign up now. This error indicates the system is not validating your email address, you may create a new account using the same email. 

Verification codes to confirm your email may be sent to your junk/spam mail please check both locations before attempting again, after the 5th attempt you will be locked out of your account and will need wait 24 hours before accessing the portal again. Do not delay on renewing your license as late fees will not be waived for this error. 

If you log into your account and see your name with no licensing details screenshot your account information, email kbc@ky.gov no later than July 31st 2025, 11:59 PM EST. Include your name, license number and email address you used to log into your account immediately as it can take up to 72 hours for a response from the development team. 
LICENSE RENEWAL PHOTO RE​​​​​QUI​REMENTS (iPhone users must access the portal through Google or Chrome, Safari is not a compatible browsers) 
  • Use a photo taken within the last 6 months.
  • Stand facing forward.
  • Capture the shoulders up.
  • Use a solid white or light blue background
  • DO NOT USE AI-GENERATED IMAGES or filters as these are not permitted.
  • Please note what is NOT accepted. Photos that include your spouse, friends, family or pets, car-selfies, or photos that are too dark/bright/blurry that make features indistinguishable.​

It is important to regularly check your emails for deficiency notices to ensure compliance and timely processing of your license.  

A renewal submitted that does not meet the printing requirements will be sent a deficiency notice by email.

Upon completing your license renewal, verify the expiration date 7/31/2028 is listed on your license(s).  Your application will travel through the portal to our lockbox, after confirming how you answered the questions in the application your account will be approved for a 7/31/2028 expiration date or it will receive a HOLD. Holds must be manually reviewed by our team. Your status change notice will be sufficient as proof of submisstion of your renewal. If you do not receive your license within 60 days, please contact our office. Your license must be posted in the licensed facility you are providing services.
