​​​​​​​Personal licenses will be mailed to the address you have provided to the Board through your portal. 

Salon/School/Limited Facility licenses will be emailed for printing.

Salon/School/Limited Facility​ inspection sheets will be emailed for printing and must be posted per 12:060.

​If you are concerned about the status of your license, please login to your account to review your expiration date. Please allow for a 72 hour business response time. 

Please note:

The status of your license does not indicate your employment status or use of the license.

As of June 15th 2023, there are two statuses for licenses: "renewed" (active) or "not renewed" (inactive). Licenses that show an expired status are no longer renewable.  

Pl​ease note that KBC does not have the option to place a license account in either a "retired" or "escrow" status.​

​​ Complaint Form

  • ​The Board cannot settle matters of a civil nature and has no authority to require payment for damages on your behalf.​​​

  • The Kentucky Board of Cosmetology does not accept complaints by phone or email. ​

In order to file a complaint with the Board you must complete the following application and submit it to the Board office. All complaints must be submitted in full with valid contact information. ​​​​Supportive photos and additional documents are encouraged to support the formal complaint.

The information you provide will be used and may be shared with the party against which you have complained. ​It may also be used to enforce applicable state laws. Under Kentucky's Open Records Act, this complain​t will be available for public view upon request. However, certain personal information, such as contact information, is not subject to the Open Records Act.​
