Requirements
- 1500 Hours
- 12th Grade Education or equivalent
- Be at least eightneed (18) years of age
- Successfully complete a written and practical examination
- Apply for licensure
- Receive a license verification or license prior to providing services

Shampoo and Style Services
Requirements
- 300 Hours
- 12th Grade Education or equivalent
- Be at least eightneed (18) years of age
- Successfully complete a written and practical examination

Apprentice Instructor
Requirements
- 750 Hours
- 12th Grade Education or equivalent
- Required to hold a current license as a Cosmetologist, Esthetician or Nail Technician for a minimum of one (1) year
- An Apprentice Instructor license application must be completed by the attending school and submitted to KBC with the required fee within 10 days of enrollment.
- Upon completion of the 750 hours, may apply for the instructor examination, written and practical.
- Receive license verification or license prior to returning back to an educational institute
The process does not require Board approval. If applicant meets all requirements, license is issued. One must complete 750 hours as defined in 201 KAR 12:082. Section 15.
